Budget for iPhone, iPad, and Mac · Last updated September 22, 2026
Budget is made by Oscar Brown. The short version: I don't collect any of your data. Nothing you enter in the app is ever sent to me.
Your budget data
Your budgets, expenses, and categories are stored on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, they sync between your devices through your own iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit. That data lives in your iCloud account, under Apple's privacy policy. I can't see it or access it.
Sharing a budget
If you share a budget, the people you invite can see and edit that budget's expenses, along with the name you set in App Settings. Sharing goes through iCloud, directly between your accounts. The budget's owner can stop sharing, or remove people, at any time from Budget Settings → Manage Sharing.
What Budget doesn't do
- No accounts or sign-up
- No analytics, crash reporting, or tracking
- No ads or third-party SDKs
- No servers: there's nowhere for your data to go except your devices and your iCloud
Notifications and widgets
Summary notifications and home screen widgets are created on your device from the data already there. Nothing is sent anywhere to make them.
Tips
Tips in the app are processed by Apple through the App Store. I don't receive any of your payment information.
Children
Budget doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
